Removing the brand badges from a car is a somewhat common process and is an easy way to make your car a bit more personalized.
Before attempting to remove the emblems, make sure they are attached using adhesive (most modern cars use adhesive). You can usually find how the badges are attached in the owner’s manual or by a quick google search. If they did not use adhesive, consult with your mechanic on how to remove them properly.
Once confirming they are attached using adhesive, you can begin the removal process. There are three main steps in removing your car’s badges:
- Loosen the adhesive. Use hot water, adhesive remover that is safe for paint, or a blow dryer to loosen the adhesive.
- Remove the emblems. Use a plastic wedge, dental floss, fishing line, or a credit card to pry the badges off the vehicle.
- Clean and wax the paint. Use some adhesive remover or similar cleaning product to remove excess glue. Once removed, clean the area using soap and water, let dry completely, and apply a layer of wax to protect the paint.
