If you drive regularly, it’s not a question of if you’ll ever need a jumpstart—it’s when.The first thing you should know is that the type of car you have usually won’t matter too much. You can get a jump or give a jump with a Jeep Grand Cherokee the same way you would with a Honda Civic.
To jump a car with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, start by parking your Jeep beside or facing the car with the dead battery. Ensure both cars are completely off, and open the hoods.
Next, get out your jumper cables.
- Connect the **red cable to the positive terminals on both cars’ batteries.
- Connect one end of the black cable to the negative terminal on your Jeep’s battery and the other end to a part of the engine block away from the dead battery.
- Rev your Jeep’s engine a couple of times, allow the other car’s battery to charge for several minutes, then have the other driver try to start their car.
Once the other vehicle is running, you can remove the jumper cables and close the hoods.
