How to fix a bent steel bumper isn’t straightforward and depends heavily on the damage your bumper sustained. Your best option is to use a hammer and dolly to try to hammer the dent out of your bumper. Follow these steps to hammer the dent out:
- Pour boiling water over the dent in your car to heat the steel, making it easier to work with.
- Position a dolly that’s suitable for your bumper’s shape and size in front of your bumper where the dent is located.
- Keeping the dolly in place, use your hammer to tap the dent out and restore your bumper’s original shape.
If you’ve managed to hammer the dent out and your bumper still looks wonky, you might need to replace your bumper’s brackets well to ensure it’s positioned correctly.
