Try not to worry too much about your first exam—think of it as a practice run! If you find yourself starting to panic, though, here are a few ways to boost your confidence before you take your driving test:
  • Use a vehicle that you’re familiar with for the test.
  • Practice some deep breathing exercises before beginning your exam.
  • Try not to drink too much caffeine before you take your test. Caffeine can increase your anxiety levels.
  • Ask your driving instructor if they will give you a mock test as practice.
  • Arrive at the testing site early.
  • Make sure to eat a healthy meal before taking your test.
  • Get a
    good night’s sleep
to ensure that you’re awake and alert.
  • Try to find a testing site in an area that you’re familiar with.
  • Wear clothes that make you feel both comfortable and confident, but make sure that your shoes don’t have a heel.
  • Drive yourself to the exam to get a final bit of practice before your test.
