How big is the Mini Cooper S gas tank?
With rising gas prices, I’m having to redo my monthly budget. I want to try and anticipate how much to budget for gas, but I have no clue where to start. I drive a Mini Cooper S—how many gallons of gas will I have to put in each time I fill up if I wait until it’s nearly empty?

Mini Cooper S
has an 11.6-gallon gas tank and usually gets 26 miles to the gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon highway. So if you want to budget for gas, you can expect to fill up your vehicle every 300 miles you drive. If you want to get the most out of each gallon of gas, here are some tips:
- Limit idling. Frequent stopping and starting burns more fuel than steady driving.
- Watch your speed. Driving over 50 miles per hour dramatically reduces your fuel efficiency.
- Check your tire pressure. Underinflated tires also reduce fuel economy, sometimes by up to 3%.
- Keep up with regular maintenance. Clogged fuel lines or dirty air filters can cause your engine’s efficiency to drop.
