How bad is traffic on Interstate 64?
Are there any times of day to avoid when traveling via Interstate 64? I’ve never driven on I-64 before, but I really hate sitting in traffic and I try to avoid it at all costs!

Generally speaking, traffic on Interstate 64 is usually pretty light. However, there are definitely some times of day to avoid this highway:
- 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM
This is because these times are rush hour on I-64, so you’ll typically run into more traffic as people travel to and from work or school. You’ll also see more rush hour traffic near large cities, like
St. Louis, Missouri
, which are accessible via I-64.If you do have to travel during these times or close to a large city on I-64, it’s a good idea to leave 15 minutes early to give yourself a little bit more time to get from point A to point B.
