Have there been Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo recalls?

I’m checking out a few used Jeeps this weekend, but I want to do my research first. Both vehicles are the same trim, just different years. Have there been any Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo recalls and if so, what years were affected?

It’s good to be prepared when you’re shopping for used cars—you don’t want to get a lemon](

)! Since Jeep has produced the
Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
since 1993, there have been a lot of recalls, some more serious than others.
The best way to check if your potential Jeep is affected by one of these 57 recalls is to
check the VIN
. Not only will you be able to see the exact recall information for the vehicle, but you can also learn if the vehicle was repaired or serviced because of the recall. Pretty helpful!
It’s also a good idea to check out Jeep Grand Cherokee years to avoid. The 2011 and 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees are notoriously unreliable. CarComplaints notes a higher share of mechanical problems with these model years. The 2011 model had body styling issues, while the 2014 model’s transmission struggled.
Later models fixed these design and engineering problems, but you might want to play it safe and avoid these specific model years or at least find out what mechanical work has been done on them before you buy one. Shop smart and you’ll drive off the lot with a Jeep that you can rely on!
