Have there been any Oldsmobile Bravada recalls?

I’m in the market for a used SUV and I’ve had my eye on the Oldsmobile Bravada since my family had one when I was growing up. But first I want to make sure they are good vehicles. Have there been any recalls on the Oldsmobile Bravada?

Sadly—yes. Discontinued in 2004, the
Oldsmobile Bravada
has been subject to 25 recalls from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since the SUV was introduced to the world in 1991.
Here is all the NHTSA safety recalls for the Bravada by recall year:
  • 2008: Stop and rear hazard lamps could fail to let other drivers know the vehicle is braking
  • 2006: Three recalls, including affected aftermarket fuel filters, windshield wiper motors, and fuel leaks at the valve that may increase the risk of fire
  • 2005: Turn signal failure that may increase the risk of a car accident
  • 2004: Four recalls, including potential issues of
    brake light bulb
failure, electronically controlled air suspension, seat belt assemblies, and windshield wiper assembly that could reduce visibility
  • 2003: Five recalls, including possible issues with mechanical overrides, instrument panel clusters, owner’s manual information, and brake pipes that reduce brake performance
  • 2002: Two recalls, including affected airbag inflators that don’t fully inflate and fuel filter fitting that becomes disconnected when in operation
  • 2001: Four recalls, including potential issues with the multifunction switch, upper control arm, upper joint ball separation, and front lower control arm bracket
  • 2000: Some vehicles were built with the wrong payload information on the certification label, resulting in loss of vehicle control or inability to stop the vehicle
  • 1998: Separation of the lower control arm from the frame that could result in loss of vehicle control
  • 1997: Possible
    brake fluid leak
that may result in a soft brake pedal
  • 1996: Fuel leakage issues that may increase the risk of fire
  • 1994: Correct safety belt usage information is not available as the wrong owner’s manual was supplied with the vehicle
While this SUV may bring back great memories from your childhood, you’ll want to keep these recalls in mind when you’re shopping around for a used Oldsmobile Bravada. Most of all, you’ll want to make sure your
car insurance
policy has ample coverage to protect you from potential repair costs.
