does not have a manual transmission.Unlike gas and diesel cars, which require multiple gears to navigate usable torque and power, an EV simply doesn’t need a clutch or gears.
A very small number of electric vehicle manufacturers will add in gears, simply to maintain the traditional drive feel. In 2022, there are two options:
- Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo: starting MSRP of approximately $187,600
- Audi e-tron GT: starting MSRP of approximately $101,000
The 2022 Tesla Model S starts at $99,990, so the Porsche is most certainly a splurge, but upgrading to the Audi might be worth the slightly higher sticker price—especially if driving a manual vehicle is incredibly important to you.
