Congratulations on the move! We hope you and your family are settling in nicely. The George Washington Bridge does have a toll. However, you’ll only have to pay once per day.
The George Washington Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the Hudson River, connecting Fort Lee, New Jersey, with Manhattan, New York City. As of July 2022, the George Washington Bridge is cashless. You can pay by toll by E-Z pass or through a bill you’ll receive in the mail.
The toll is $16 per car—not exactly cheap! That said, you’ll only be charged going into Manhattan. There is no toll to enter New Jersey on your way home.
Since you’ll be commuting daily, we recommended purchasing an E-Z pass. It will be cheaper than paying the toll every day—and you’ll be able to drive in a designated lane to speed up the process.
Give yourself plenty of time to make it into the city safely—driving in New York City can be a bit overwhelming the first time!
