Does Subaru have adaptive cruise control?
The hubby and I are heading out on a cross-country jaunt and I like to cruise on the interstate while he navigates (he is a terrible and clueless driver—our cat is better!). Anyways, I forgot to even check if our newly purchased Subaru Outback has that capability.

You’ll be pleased to know you can cruise in your new car! Most new Subarus have adaptive cruise control as part of the company’s EyeSight driver assist technology system.
Subaru’s Eyesight driver-assist technology uses cameras mounted above your rearview mirror to watch the road in front of you. The adaptive cruise control system automatically adjusts your cruising speed depending on the actions of the vehicle in front of you. If the car in front of you starts to slow down, your Subaru will slow down in reaction to it. If the vehicle in front of you comes to a hard stop, your Subaru will slow you down aggressively and, if necessary, make a complete stop.
You never know when you might encounter a sudden issue while on cruise control, so it’s good to know your Subaru has your back. Here’s a list of all 2022 Subaru models with adaptive cruise control:
- Crosstrek
- Impreza
- Ascent
- Forester
- Legacy
- Outback
- WRX
Subarus with 5- or 6-speed manual transmission do not have adaptive cruise control. Only Subarus with automatic or continuously variable transmissions (CVT) have this feature.
