Does renters insurance cover moving?
I have a renters insurance policy at my current apartment. I’m moving soon and have already let my insurance company know my new address. Will my renters insurance cover moving?

Moving is a lot of work, but usually worth it in the end. Renters insurance covers your property anywhere in the world, but typically won’t cover moving.
However, there are some exceptions. If a
covered peril
damages your property during the move, you would have coverage. For example, if you’re moving items and someone breaks into your car, your renters insurance should cover the replacement cost of these possessions.If you hire movers who break or damage something, your renters insurance wouldn’t extend coverage. That said, moving companies often have liability insurance and will typically cover anything they break or damage during a move.
While you won’t have complete coverage for your items while moving, it never hurts to check in with your renters insurance company. An agent can review your policy with you and may be able to suggest an endorsement or additional coverage to protect you during your move.
