Does my driving record clear automatically?

If I want my driving record to be cleared, do I have to do anything to get the points off of my record, or do they get taken off automatically? I live in North Dakota if that makes a difference.

Your driving record will clear automatically for some charges in some states, but not in others! In North Dakota, one point will be removed automatically every three months as long as the driver doesn’t commit any more driving infractions in the meantime. To learn more about your individual driving record, contact the DMV.
If you’d like to remove points from your record more quickly, you can complete a
defensive driving class
once every 12 months to remove three points from your record.
Certain charges are more serious than others, however, and will therefore stay on your record for longer. A DUI, for example, can stay on your record forever in some states. In North Dakota, a DUI will stay on your driving record for a minimum of seven years.
When there are driving points on your record, your insurance rates are higher. Luckily, the
Jerry
app makes it quick and easy to find the best rates available on the coverage you need. Just download the app and answer some quick questions to see quotes customized for you.
Hope that helps!
