“If you’re planning a trip to Mexico, you will need special car insurance. Since Mexico doesn’t recognize American liability insurance, you’ll have to get additional coverage.
AAA
partners with a Mexican car insurance company to help provide their customers with coverage while traveling through Mexico as a tourist. Policies from AAA range from one day to a year and offer anything from basic liability to extended coverage for cars, RVs, trailers. However, AAA only offers these policies to their clients in California, New Mexico, and Texas. Since you live in California, you shouldn’t have a problem.
