Good on you for taking great care of your parents! Minnesota is one of 31 states that requires a front license plate in addition to a rear license plate. The idea behind dual plates is that it helps law enforcement identify cars involved in crimes or traffic infractions.
Minnesota gives you 60 days to get a driver’s license and register your car in the state. A license costs $21.50 and is good for four years. Registering your car costs $15.50 for the plates, $8.25 to title the car in the state, and 1.25% of the value of the vehicle. The state also levies a $75 fee to register electric vehicles.
