Does Mazda make a 6-cylinder SUV?
I’m considering buying an SUV, but I haven’t had a great experience with four-cylinder midsize vehicles, as power tends to be lacking. Does Mazda make an SUV with a six-cylinder engine?

No, Mazda does not currently make a 6-cylinder SUV. Their largest vehicle, the
Mazda CX-9
, is stocked with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that provides ample power—it drives the CX-9 from zero to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds. While you may not be able to buy a V6 Mazda SUV, you can expect one in the future. Mazda has released some details on the 2023 Mazda CX-70—a two-row mid-size SUV that slots between the compact CX-50 and the three-row CX-9. Although specs have yet to be confirmed, the CX-70 will likely feature either an inline-six gas-powered engine with a 48-volt hybrid system or a plug-in-hybrid drivetrain with a 2.5-liter inline-four.
If you’re interested in getting behind the wheel of a six-cylinder Mazda SUV, you’ll have to wait—but keep your eyes peeled for more details on the CX-70.
