Does liability insurance cover hitting a deer?

My family and I just moved to our new home, which is right in the middle of a forest. There are tons of “deer crossing” signs near our neighborhood—something we aren’t really familiar with! We’re about to add a new car to our insurance plan. Will liability insurance cover us if we run into a deer?
