Does impeding traffic affect insurance?

I was taking my time while driving home the other day and I somehow managed to get myself a ticket for impeding traffic. I’ll pay the fine and everything, even though I don’t agree with it. I just want to know: will a ticket for impeding traffic affect my insurance rates?

Enjoying your drive home can be relaxing—until a traffic officer decides you’re driving a bit too slow that is! You’ll definitely have to pay a fine, but whether or not impeding traffic will affect your
car insurance
premiums will depend on the type of violation you’re issued.
An impeding traffic ticket is most commonly issued for driving at a speed that is deemed unsafe for surrounding motorists to properly operate their vehicles. An impeding traffic ticket can be classified as a moving violation or non-moving violation depending on the circumstances.
A non-moving violation is considered more of a civil infraction—on the level of forgetting to feed a parking meter, as an example—so your insurance rates should not be affected if your impeding traffic ticket is classified as a non-moving violation.
An impeding traffic ticket is more likely to be considered a moving violation if it was issued on a major highway. This classification will result in
driver violation points
to be added to your license if your state uses them. This kind of impeding traffic ticket will affect your car insurance rates until the points or violation fall off your record.
