Does home insurance cover electrical wiring?

There was an outlet fire in my kitchen due to an issue with the electrical wiring. I’m hoping to claim the damage with my homeowners insurance, but I’m worried the claim will get denied. Does home insurance cover electrical wiring?

Oh no! A fire inside the house sounds awful. In most cases, home insurance covers electrical wiring.
Most home insurance policies typically include issues with electrical wiring. As long as the damage is sudden and accidental (like an electric fire), you should be able to claim the damage. You can check your policy’s terms and conditions to see what
named perils
are covered.
If your house is old and has knob and tube wiring, there’s a chance you won’t be covered (or will be paying a higher premium due to a raised risk of a claim). Reach out to your insurance provider to confirm whether or not you’re insured for electrical wiring.
