Does Geico renters insurance cover food loss?
I was out of town for a long weekend, and when I got back there was a power outage in my apartment building. The outage broke my fridge, and all the food inside it has gone bad. Will my renters insurance with Geico cover the food loss?

Renters insurance
is a fairly cheap way to protect you and your belongings from perils or losses. Your policy through Geico may be able to help cover food loss due to certain circumstances. If your refrigerator or freezer breaks down due to a power outage, you may be able to file a renters insurance claim to be reimbursed for the money you spend on groceries. Food is typically considered as personal property, so it should fall under the personal property coverage portion of your renters insurance.
