Does driving in a higher gear save gas?

Will I save money on gas if I drive in a higher gear? My friend told me so, but I would think that the opposite would actually be true.

Actually, your friend is right! Driving in a higher gear can save
gas
—and therefore save money.
With that being said, however, driving slow in a high gear will increase fuel consumption. So, the best thing to do is to use the gear that works best for the speed you’re traveling.
