Does cruise control use more gas?

Will I get better gas mileage if I don’t use cruise control? I love cruise control for long drives, but sometimes I worry that I’m burning through fuel more quickly by using it.

Cruise control can be really helpful when you’re traveling long distances! Luckily, cruise control does not use more
gas
than regular driving.
In fact, when you‘re driving on a level highway, using cruise control could increase your car’s fuel efficiency and help you save between 7% and 14% on gas.
This is because cruise control causes your car to maintain a constant speed. In contrast, if you constantly change speeds, your car will use more gas.
