While truly autonomous, self-driving cars aren’t on the market yet, all of
BMW’s
2022 models are semi-autonomous, with driver-assistance technology.Most BMWs offer level one automation and include features such as:
- Active cruise control, which adjusts the distance between your car and the one in front of you.
- Collision and pedestrian warning, which detects other cars or pedestrians, and activates the brakes if you’re at risk of a collision.
If you’re looking to get your hands on the most advanced tech BMW has to offer, however, then you’ll want to check out the iX. BMW’s iX is equipped with level two automation—it can automatically accelerate, brake, park, and even take over steering under certain conditions.
If level two automation isn’t enough for you, BMW has teamed up with tech-companies Qualcomm and Arriver to expand its driver-assistance tech to a level three autonomous system by 2025.
