Does a warning show up on your driving record?

My friend and I were having a debate about traffic warnings after he got one from a cop the other day. I said that they show up on your record, but he said they didn’t. Which one of us is right?

To some degree, you’re both correct. A verbal warning usually doesn’t show up on your record because there’s no paper trail. Conversely, a written warning may show up on your driving record, but it’s entirely dependent on the practices of the police department that issued the warning.
Some police stations will file these warnings electronically while others simply keep the warning on file, unlikely to see the light of day again.
