Can you settle this debate? My buddy is telling me that a straight pipe may sound cool, but it doesn’t add any horsepower. I thought it did. Does a straight pipe add horsepower?

You win! Many car owners find they gain about ten hp after putting on a straight pipe. Of course, if you are racing on a closed track, that extra bit of hp can mean a lot!
Important note: In most places, putting on a straight pipe will mean you can no longer drive your car on the street. Because your car no longer has a catalytic converter attached to a muffler, it will not pass an emissions inspection.
