Does a Honda B16 turbo kit increase the value of the car?
I got my hands on a 1996 Honda CR-X. I'm excited to work on it, but the current owner keeps raising the price. He said the car is worth more since the B16 has a turbo kit. Does a Honda B16 turbo kit increase the value of the car?

As they say, beauty is the eye of the beholder. A B16 turbo kit may increase the value of the Honda, but there is also the potential to decrease the value as well. It all depends on the buyer.
When
buying a car from a private seller
, the seller can set the price and wait as long as they want to for the right buyer. The B16 engine is highly sought after, and with the turbo kit included, it will save potential buyers from having to do it themselves. If the car was being sold to a dealership, they don’t have the time to wait for the perfect buyer and would offer the owner a lower price.
Take a look at the car and inspect everything. Odds are once the B16 turbo kit was installed, the owner may have been driving rough or racing the car. This would create additional wear and tear that you can use to negotiate the price down.
If everything seems ship-shape and you wanted the turbo kit anyway, the cost of the turbo kit and installation plus the blue book value would be fair. Ask to see the receipt before committing to a number.
