Does a homeowners policy cover anything besides the house?
Is it possible to file a claim against your homeowners insurance for anything other than your home? I overheard my neighbor talking about filing a claim against her sister's homeowners policy.

If your neighbor is filing a claim against another person’s homeowners policy, it is likely a claim under the personal liability coverage afforded on that policy.
In order for this type of claim to be valid, the policyholder must be considered legally liable for the damages. In order to be considered legally liable, they must have breached a duty of care owed to another party and this breach of duty must have caused damages.
It’s not too dissimilar to how car insurance operates.
