Does a cell phone ticket go on your driving record?

I received a cell phone ticket the other day for texting and driving. The officer caught me red-handed, so I’m not disputing the charge. I just want to know if it will have a lasting impact. Will a cell phone ticket go on my permanent driving record?

Texting and driving is never a good idea and is illegal in 48 states, excluding Montana and
Missouri
. However, a cell phone ticket isn’t a moving violation. Normally, a cell phone ticket will not go on your driving record.
But there’s more to the story. If you simply received a ticket for texting while driving, you won’t see anything on your permanent record. But if the officer cites you for careless driving, you will get points on your license and an increase in your car insurance rates. Conversely, a texting while driving ticket will only cost you a fine.
Regardless of whether you get a careless driving ticket or a cell phone ticket, always make sure to look at your next car insurance renewal policy to see if it’s changed. If it has, use the
