However, in some instances, the Vermont DMV will only issue you one license plate at a time, meaning you could start with a single license plate rather than a pair of plates. If this happens, attach the plate to the rear of your vehicle, since this is the most common location for a license plate. Then, once your second plate arrives, attach it to the front of your car.
