Do you have to update your license when moving into a new state?
What happens if you don't change your driver's license when you move? I just renewed my New York license and then moved to a new state. I don't feel like going through the hassle at the DMV, getting a new picture taken, and paying for a new license. What will happen if I keep mine?

“Updating your driver’s license when moving to a new state is a requirement, but the penalty isn’t too severe for a first-time offense.
In some cases you might be lucky and get just a verbal warning. Most of the time, you may be issued a ticket for failure to notify the DMV of address change.
States usually provide residents 30-60 days to update their driver’s license.
While the DMV can be a hassle, you will also need to change the address on your
car insurance policy
and then update the registration for your car. Since you will have to make a trip to the DMV anyway, you might as well do it all at once. Changing your address at the Post Office will not automatically update the address with your insurance company or the DMV. Check online with your new state’s DMV to see a complete list of what documents are needed for these updates.
