Do you have to take a driving test at 75?

My husband is about to turn 75 and I’m wondering if he’ll have to take the Illinois driving test again. Are seniors required to take the driving test?

You’re right! Your husband will have to take a driving test in order to renew his
Illinois
license once he turns 75. However, this is not the case in every state. Some states require seniors to reapply for their licenses when they turn 70, while others require in-person license renewal for anyone 65 and older.
However, most states require *vision tests** for seniors to ensure that they can still see well enough to drive. Additionally, many states require doctors to report potentially unsafe drivers to their state DMV.
