Do you have to have a driving instructor?

Am I required to get driving lessons with an instructor, or can I just learn how to drive from my parents and siblings? I don’t want to pay for an instructor but I also want to make sure that I satisfy all state requirements.

You don’t have to have a driving instructor in every state, but some states require that you take driving lessons of some sort in order to get your license. To make sure that you don’t need a driving instructor, you’ll need to check your state requirements for issuing a new license.
Even if driving lessons aren’t a requirement, they’re still a good idea. Driving instructors can help you pass your driving exam more quickly because they know what to expect. Learning from an instructor can also make you a
safer driver
since you won’t accidentally pick up any poor driving habits your family members may have.
While you’re learning about your license requirements, consider learning about the insurance requirements in your state, too. Check out the
