Do you have to bleed all four brakes?
I’m having the calipers in my front brakes replaced, and the mechanic says I should bleed all four brakes—the back ones as well as the front ones. Is he right? Do you have to bleed all four brake lines?

Yes, many car experts recommend that you bleed all four brakes once you open one of the brake lines to replace a caliper or do other work. However, this is not a hard-and-fast rule, particularly if the brake line you are having work done to is independent of the other lines.
However, if there is air in your brake lines, the brake fluid cannot work properly to compress your brake system, meaning your brakes won’t work effectively.
One further consideration: many professionals recommend that brakes be bled once a year as a part of preventative maintenance. So, if you’re having work done on your front brakes now, you might as well have the mechanic bleed all four.
