Do they rate electric cars with horsepower?

I’m looking into buying my first electric car, but I’m confused as to how the specs work since an electric motor is so different from a regular combustion engine. Are electric cars still rated with horsepower?

The answer is yes,
electric cars
do have
horsepower
ratings, but they’re not calculated quite the same as traditional horsepower ratings. Some electric car makers rate the motor output in kilowatts, while others use horsepower.
It’s more straightforward to calculate electrical output in kilowatts, but if you want to convert a kilowatt rating into horsepower, all you need to do is some simple math. One kilowatt is about 1.34 horsepower. You can use either number, but most American drivers are more familiar with horsepower.
