Do states share driving records?

Do I just have one driving record, or do I have one record per state? If I have one per state, should I just apply for car insurance in the state where I have the best record?

You’re right that a better record can get you better insurance rates, but most states share
driving records
. The only states that don’t share records with others are:
  1. Georgia
  2. Massachusetts
  3. Michigan
  4. Tennessee
  5. Wisconsin
Even if you move to one of these states, however, you’ll probably still have high insurance rates if your driving record is poor. To make sure that you’re getting the best insurance rates available, the best thing that you can do is shop around.
