Do Shih Tzus travel well in cars?
How will my Shih Tzu do on a long car ride? I’m going on vacation with my family and bringing my dog, but he tends to get nervous really easily. I’m worried that he’ll hate the car.

Typically, Shih Tzus do not travel well, in cars or otherwise. That’s not to say that you can’t travel with your dog, though!
You’ll just need to take some precautions to make the ride more enjoyable, such as:
- Bringing your dog’s favorite toy
- Covering your dog’s carrier to encourage them to sleep
- Keeping music quiet and calm
- Discussing the possibility of anti-anxiety medication with your vet
