“If you’re going to be transporting your horses, it is recommended to have horse trailer insurance.
While your
liability car insurance
will cover any accidents or injuries you cause while on the road with your trailer, you’ll need a special policy if you’d like to protect it from damage, theft, or vandalism. With some companies, this typically falls under trailer or RV insurance. Trailer insurance is insurance for a trailer that transports goods. This can be anything from food to ATVs. You may also be able to get a specialized horse trailer policy.
Most trailer policy coverages include:
- Collision insurance
- Personal effects or replacement cost
- Emergency expense coverage
