Do I need an alignment after replacing a wheel hub?

According to my dad’s favorite mechanic, my car needs a new “wheel hub”. My partner says they’ll also need to do an alignment, but the mechanic didn’t mention that. Do I need an alignment after replacing a wheel hub?

We know it’s super frustrating when car parts unexpectedly fail: the short answer is that yes, you need your alignment checked after replacing a wheel hub.
Your wheel hub connects the wheel to the axle and suspension, allowing the suspension to play its important role while the wheel rotates.
An alignment measures and balances out your car’s suspension. Without getting overly technical, alignments ensure your tires are pointing at the right angle—they’re not leaning left or right, or tilted too far inward or outward.
As a general rule, it’s a good idea to have your alignment checked whenever a tire is removed or the suspension is altered, and having it done every other oil change is a good idea too. Alignments can help reduce tire wear, limit stress on your suspension, and help mechanics identify safety issues while doing the alignment.
Unfortunately, replacing a wheel hub isn’t cheap. On average, this repair will cost anywhere from $250 to $500, depending on what type of car you drive and how labor prices are in your area. But it’s a good idea to shop around and call a few different mechanics to see who offers the best prices.
That same rule applies to shopping for

, too. Though it’s not as easy to call insurance companies and get a quote quickly. They want to give you a sales pitch before and after you hear their rates.
