Do I need a 2014 Silverado OEM battery?

How important is it that I find an exact match when replacing my 2014 Silverado’s car battery? I’ve been looking for ages and I can’t seem to find the same exact model. Could I use a slightly different battery or would that cause problems?

Great question! The simple answer is no—you don’t need to use the exact original equipment manufacturer (OEM) battery that your 2014
Chevy Silverado
came with. You can use any car battery that meets the same basic specifications.
ACDelco is the official battery manufacturer for
Chevrolet
, and they make excellent products. If you can’t find one, or if you’d prefer a more affordable battery, there are plenty of other options.
The most important thing is that you pick a replacement battery that will fit. If your 2014 Silverado is an LT trim package, then you’ll need a battery from size group H6 (12.063 in. long x 6.875 in. wide x 7.563 in. tall).
If you have a standard trim package, you’ll need an H7-size battery (12.375 in. long x 6.875 in. wide x 7.5 in. tall). For any trim level, you’ll need a battery that produces 730 CCA, at the very least.
