Do I have to drive to a dealer that's three hours away to resign a document?

I just bought a Honda from a dealership that's three hours away from where I live. A few days after I signed the financing agreement, I got a call from the dealership saying that my signature was smudged. They can't do an email or fax, so I'm required to come in to resign the document at their offices. Do I have to drive back to the dealer for this?

“I wouldn’t. And here’s why.
You’ve already paid for the vehicle. For you, a six-hour trip to sign a document may result in lost wages or taking time from other activities for something that wasn’t your fault.
It may technically not be the dealer’s fault either, but that’s irrelevant.
Dealers
do plenty of out-of-state deals where all of the signing and correspondence is conducted through email, so making you come in seems strange.
If they’re playing hardball, ask if they’re familiar with the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA). This act states that all e-signatures are just as legally binding as the ones you do by hand.
If they still won’t budge, tell them to send a representative to your house with the paperwork. You could also see if they’d be willing to send the documents to a closer Honda or partner dealership. Surely a $30,000 sale would justify such a move.
Chances are, if you throw one of these ideas out there, they’ll be just fine with it.
Don’t forget that when you buy a new vehicle, you will need proper coverage. If you haven’t already found insurance, use the free
