Do forklifts have seat belts?

So I work in an ice cream factory—we produce the ice cream, package it, store it, and then ship it. Being the company man I am, I never surreptitiously sample any of our products, nor do I accidentally go home with containers of our newest flavors. Anyways, I’m starting training tomorrow as a forklift driver, because someone has to transport those pallets of delicious Orange Cocoa Tiger ice cream from the factory floor to waiting trucks. I’m wondering—do forklifts have seat belts?

Forklifts do have seat belts, and while the Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not have a law requiring operators to wear one, the OSHA does mandate that all forklifts made in 1992 or later come equipped with seatbelts and/or safety restrains.

Yes, they are for safety, but forklift seat belts are designed to stop operators from falling out of the cab and being crushed if the forklift tips over. You might be hanging upside down for a few moments, but your colleagues will be able to safely remove you from the forklift in one piece.
Odds are that once you done forklift-ing for the day and are set to head home with a container or two of Orange Cocoa Tige—we mean, with your empty lunchbox—, you’ll be driving. So, protect your car with a robust
