Do car insurance companies sue uninsured motorists after a claim?

An uninsured driver hit me and was at fault. I submitted a claim and my insurance approved it. Since I am being paid out from my uninsured motorist coverage, does my insurance now sue the other driver?

“When an
uninsured motorist coverage
claim is approved, your insurance company pays out from your own policy. Normally, the money would come from the other driver’s insurance, so your insurance company will try to recover the costs on your behalf.
Whether they sue the driver or choose to pursue them through other means depends on many different factors. If the uninsured driver doesn’t have any assets, your insurance company may not be able to pursue them.
Additionally, while there are 12 states that have no-fault or tort liability laws, allowing carriers to sue someone for damages, there are other states that do not allow this.
Since you had the coverage necessary to protect yourself in this situation, you don’t need to do anything else. Your insurance company will handle collecting any costs owed by the other driver.
