Do car dealerships take checks?

Will I be allowed to use a personal check to make a downpayment on my car? I don’t know what kind of payment options most dealerships have, but I try to use checks for large purchases because I like to keep track in my checkbook. Do car dealerships take checks?

You’re definitely not the only person who records large purchases in this way! Fortunately, most car dealerships do take personal checks as a form of payment for the downpayment on your car.
However, some dealerships may not accept temporary checks. Additionally, you’ll need to be directly involved in the purchase of the new vehicle in order to write a check for the downpayment. If your name isn’t on the paperwork, it’s unlikely that
the dealer
will accept a check from you as payment.
