Can you turn right on a red light in New Hampshire?

My husband and I just moved to New Hampshire from San Diego because he wants to be closer to his roots. (I think he just wants to take advantage of the fact that there is no sales or income tax in New Hampshire.) Anyways, I’m trying to get used to the laws here. Can you make a right on red in New Hampshire?

Yes, you can turn right on a red light in
New Hampshire
so long as you make a complete stop before turning, and there is no sign prohibiting you from turning right on a red.
At any intersection, always remember to yield the right-of-way when necessary to other vehicles.
Here are the rules when it comes to
New Hampshire’s red light laws
:
  • Before turning right on a red light, come to a complete stop and make sure the intersection is clear before proceeding.
  • If there is a sign barring right turns on a red light, do not turn right on the red light—wait until the light is green before turning right.
  • Always yield the right-of-way to pedestrians.
In New Hampshire, a police officer can issue you a ticket for not making a complete stop at a red light, for ignoring a sign that prohibits making a right turn on a red light, or for not properly yielding to either pedestrians or traffic.
Whatever the offense, a first ticket will cost you $62 and three demerit points. Repeat offenders will have to pay a $124 fine. If you record six points against your driving record within one year, you will face a three-month license suspension.
