When you are approaching an intersection and the light turns red:
Come to a complete stop
Make sure there are no signs prohibiting a right turn on a red light
Check for crossing pedestrians, cyclists, or vehicles, then cautiously proceed with your right turn
It’s also important to check for HOV signs—the High Occupancy Vehicle lane is only for vehicles with two or more passengers. If you make a right turn on red, make sure you’re not taking up a lane that you shouldn’t be in.
