Can you travel by car with a newborn?

Is it safe to bring a newborn baby in the car? My wife is going to have a baby soon and I’m trying to plan as much as possible before the baby comes, but I’m not sure what the protocol is for traveling with a newborn.

While you can travel by car with a newborn baby, there are some precautions that you should take for your baby’s health and safety.
  • Limit travel time to 30 minutes at a time
  • Get a
    carseat
that’s specifically designed for newborn babies
  • Give your baby a comfort item, such as a toy or blanket, to keep them occupied
  • Play soothing music to keep your baby from becoming stressed
  • Use window shades or drape a canopy over the car seat to encourage your baby to take a nap
