Good luck with your written test!
In Indiana, you cannot complete the written driving test online. You will need to visit your Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) branch to take the test. While you don’t need to make an appointment, you need to arrive at least one hour before the branch closes.
All the information you need to prepare for your exam can be found in the Indiana Driver’s Manual
online. You can also self-assess your knowledge with the practice knowledge exam
. To pass the test, you must correctly answer 80% of the multiple-choice questions. The written test results are valid for 180 days after you pass. If you don’t pass the first time, you can retake the written test the next business day.
Once you pass your written test, you will also need to pass a vision screening test and present valid documents
that prove your: Indiana residency (two unique documents)
