Can you switch to 4WD while driving?

If I switch into 4WD while I’m driving, will it damage my car? I never think to check until I’m already driving, and by then it’s obviously too late.

Typically, you can switch to 4WD while you’re driving. However, it’s best to make the switch while you’re going at a slow speed and driving in a straight line. Doing so can be really helpful on
slick roads
, dirt roads, or any other surface with limited traction.
It’s also worth mentioning that you should never switch to low-range 4WD or from low-range to high-range 4WD while you’re driving.
You should only switch from 2WD to high-range 4WD. Otherwise, you could damage your car.
