Yes, you can pay cash on Florida toll roads! Tolls must be paid at the time you travel through a toll lane, so cash works great. Otherwise, you can use a prepaid account, such as SunPass, E-PASS, LeeWay, or another interoperable transponder account.
If you find yourself driving through a FL toll without enough cash on hand, you should immediately send a check or money order to the Florida Department of Transportation along with the following information: your name, license plate state and number, the date, and the location (exit name, milepost number, and/or direction traveling).
Or, if you drive through a SunPass lane without a transponder, you will be billed by TOLL-BY-PLATE. A camera will take a picture of your license plate and then the registered owner of the vehicle will receive a toll enforcement invoice in the mail with an added $2.50 administrative charge.
You can pay your TOLL-BY-PLATE invoice by mailing cash or a money order to the Florida Department of Transportation, or paying online at SunPass.com. Just make sure that you pay the toll fee by the due date, or else the toll and administrative fee amounts may be assigned to a collection agency, which will add more to the balance owed.
