Can you lose your driving license for cycling drunk?

Is it possible to get a DUI if you’re caught bicycling while intoxicated? Some friends and I are planning to go to a beer festival in Minnesota soon and we want to bike back to our apartment afterward, but I’m a little worried that we’ll get into trouble.

As long as there is no motor on the bike, you won’t run the risk of losing your license by cycling home drunk after the beer festival in
Minnesota
. If the bike is gas or electric powered and your BAC is over 0.08, however, you could be charged with a DUI even though you’re not behind the wheel of a car.
While your first DUI won’t typically cost you your license in Minnesota, it could lead to jail time, license suspension, and heavy fines. As such, it’s best to avoid motorized bikes while you’re intoxicated.
It can also be very dangerous to ride any type of bicycle while intoxicated. You could fall and hurt yourself, or you could swerve into traffic. If you’re really drunk when the beer festival ends, it might be best to call an Uber or Lyft instead.
